Asifa Maqbool is a Ph.D. student developing a novel epigenomic profiling technique called nanoTag-seq, inspired by CUT&Tag but utilizing nanobodies for enhanced specificity and minimal background noise. Her work focuses on producing and purifying recombinant nanobodies in bacterial systems, contributing to more accessible and scalable chromatin profiling tools. In parallel, she is investigating the transcriptional regulatory role of SET8, a chromatin modifier with poorly understood gene regulatory functions, aiming to uncover new dimensions of epigenetic control.
